With Thanksgiving right around the corner our house is filled with talk of autumn recipes from classic and traditional to new and reinvented. Here’s a simpler take on apple pie that will still leave your guests’ sweet tooth satisfied! Try it topped with vanilla bean ice cream and a sprinkle of toasty granola! Here’s my Baked Hasselback Cinnamon Apples.
2 large apples
4 TBS butter
1 TBS cinnamon
1 TBS sugar
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.
Core apples and half them vertically. Slice skin side down in 1/4 inch spaces until almost sliced through, but not cut all the way.
Place on a greased baking sheet. Top each apple with 1 TBS of cubed butter and 1/4 of each cinnamon and sugar. Cover and bake for 20-30 minutes until soft. Serve topped with granola and vanilla ice cream!
This recipe is simple enough for the most challenged of bakers yet is satisfying enough for the pickiest of audiences. It’s also fun to try with all sorts of fruits (and we even like to “hasselback” our veggies:) ) From our family to yours, happy holiday dining planning!
