With Thanksgiving right around the corner our house is filled with talk of autumn recipes from classic and traditional to new and reinvented. Here’s a simpler take on apple pie that will still leave your guests’ sweet tooth satisfied! Try it topped with vanilla bean ice cream and a sprinkle of toasty granola! Here’s my Baked Hasselback Cinnamon Apples.

An in-season treat

An in-season treat

Ingredients:

2 large apples

4 TBS butter

1 TBS cinnamon

1 TBS sugar

Directions:

Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.

Core apples and half them vertically. Slice skin side down in 1/4 inch spaces until almost sliced through, but not cut all the way.

Place on a greased baking sheet. Top each apple with 1 TBS of cubed butter and 1/4 of each cinnamon and sugar. Cover and bake for 20-30 minutes until soft. Serve topped with granola and vanilla ice cream!
