a favorite game day snack to please the crowd

Superbowl is right around the corner and I love, love, love party food. Sure, game day rolls around and we over eat, over drink, and only half of us leave the party happy, but what a fun day to celebrate with food! This recipe is one that just about everyone loves and it’s way easier than you’d think! Better than the prepared ones you get in the frozen food aisle, this recipe for Fried Mozzarella will leave all of your guests drooling.

Directions:

Cut your mozzarella in strips, about 1/4 inch wide (one block will end in 18 sticks). (*Note: I would also love to try this with mozzarella squares instead of strips, one of my favorite Italian treats. Share with me if you try it!).

Dip sticks in egg, let the excess drip off, then toss them in the breadcrumbs, pressing to coat. Do this twice to double coat. Place sticks in the freezer for about 2 hours.

Add about 3 cups of oil (I used vegetable, ’cause it’s what I had) to a large pan and heat over medium-high to high heat. (*Note: The oil should come just to the top of the sticks). Add sticks, being careful not to overcrowd the pan, and cook until golden brown, flipping halfway through, about two minutes on each side.

Drain on a paper towel, sprinkle with Parmesan, and serve immediately with a side of marinara.

I was so pleased with the way these sticks came out, I will definitely be making them in the near future! I also think this homemade version stays stringy and warm in the center longer then their traditional pre-made siblings. Let the games begin!
